Antique Table Signs

November 6th, 2011

Buying an antique table from a price similar to used pool tables is a jackpot. These pool tables are much more expensive than brand new pool tables available today. Below are some of the signs of a genuine and antique pool table.

First is the materials used. There should be no plastic materials and the top must be covered in wool not felt. Next is the manufacturer’s mark. If it is from Brunswick, then it must be antique. Next is the impression of the pool table overall. All antique pool tables have that ornate design on the sides. There are also diamonds or ivories attached on the rails. In short, an antique pool table is elegant looking and has that expensive look. Another sign is the presence of drawers that were used to hold the cue balls. The last sign is the size of the pool table. Most antique pool tables measure 8 to 10 feet. This is not an absolute indication, however, because there are antique pool tables that are smaller than 8 feet.
