How about experiencing something different for your vacation this year? Barge holidays have become a big thing in the UK of late, because they are a most unique way to see the country. Thanks to the many canals and rivers that wind through the countryside you can take some wonderful trips. There are essentially two types of barges, the typical large barge and the smaller ones more commonly referred to as narrow boats. Narrow boats are more commonly used on the canals whereas barges are found on rivers. Many of the barges have been converted from old freight barges to the ones we use today which more resemble luxury hotels than something that used to transport coal or steel. The bigger barges can take up to about forty people and the smaller ones up to eight, all in private en-suite cabins. Meals are either served on board or shore excursions allow for dining in some of the best restaurants in the world.

I was asked by my local lacrosse team to travel with them and play a match for them. I was put in charge of researching Hotels Norfolk and finding a large hotel to accommodate all the players. I had to take my own lacrosse kit with me and I also packed a spare couple of balls in case we lost one. When everyone had arrived we went to the local park and trained for a while. We practiced kicking the ball and dribbling the ball which gave me confidence for the match the next day. On match day I was full of adrenaline and nerves, I scored lots of goals and we beat the other team by lots and lots of points. I was happy and my coach was happy. We went to a pub in the evening and had a big party because we had won so well. I played lacrosse the next week and played with lots of confidence because I knew I had done well the week before.
